Each year in september the VDP members gather in Trier to auction their 'best' barrels of wine. We have been attending since 2010 and are delighted to bring a few bottles back to sell in Bordeaux
 
The 2023 Marienburg Riesling Spätlese No. 5, as it is referred to on the central part of the label (the reference to Goldkapsel is provided on the side
of the label), was made from clean but very ripe fruit picked at 98° Oechsle and was fermented down to almost noble-sweet levels of residual sugar.
The wine offers a beautiful nose made of herbs, apricot, cream, pear, citrusy elements, and smoke. It is beautifully creamy and subtly zesty on the
palate but only really reveals its upcoming beauty in the superbly multi-layered and finely chiseled finish. This is a stunning Spätlese in the making!
