Founded in 1802, Weingut Klosterhof, is now run by brothers Dominique and Benjamin, who are currently moving to biodynamic farming. We first came across them last year and loved the green fruited Kabinetten, though this years 'noble sweet' wines are also exceptionally good in a vintage where little was made. A Producer to watch for sure.
Mosel Fine Wines Say:
The 2022er Brauneberger Klostergarten Riesling Alte Reben is a just off-dry wine made from the oldest (72-year-old) vines in the vineyard planted
on single pole. It went through pre-fermentation cold soak before being fermented and matured in stainless steel tank. It shows an aromatic nose of
fruit basket, including yellow peach, apricot, orange zest, pineapple, and a hint of litchi, as well as spicy hints of ginger and white pepper. The wine
is nicely subtle, light, and round on the palate, yet there is quickly some acidic and herbal backbone bringing in focus. The finish is quite tart and
herbal at this early stage, so patience is needed for all elements to integrate. 2025-2030
